PNLH's Mission is:

“…to be an innovative and effective substance counseling program (utilizing the Personalized Nursing LIGHT Model) that strives for excellence clinically, as well as administratively.  Specifically, our intention is to:

  • Increase Client Well-being
  • Decrease Addiction Severity
  • Contribute Positively to Society”

PNLH has served over 5,000 clients since 1990.

Contracted with SEMCA, City of Detroit, Washtenaw/Livingston County, Oakland County, HAP, BCN, ValueOptions and other commercial insurance carriers.


Board Of Directors:

PNLH’s governance structure consists of a 6-member board of directors that includes a mix of professional disciplines: a renowned psychiatrist, business owner, professor, CPA & technology consultant, and PNLH’s CEO.  The board meets on a quarterly basis (more often as necessary) to set strategic directions, review finances and evaluate the CEO.

Joseph Paliwoda, MBA, CAC-M, CCS-M  - He has 22+ years in behavioral health field.  Also has 12 years with HIV+ substance abusers (SA).  Joe is a surveyor for CARF.

Dr. Robert G. Niven, M.D. – He is the former Director of NIAAA.  Dr. Niven is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Psychiatry, and Addiction Psychiatry.  Dr. Niven has been twice on the list of nation’s “Best Doctors”.

Dr. Eugene P. Schoener, PhD. – He is the Director of the Wayne State University Addiction Research Institute.  Dr. Schoener has a Career Teacher Award from the NIAAA. 

David Micoff, CPA – He is the owner of Digital Guidance.  Since his 1986 “Cum Laude” graduation from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration, he has worked as an auditor for two “Big Six” accounting firms and served as controller and later as Chief Financial Officer for FAME Software Corporation, a subsidiary of Citibank.

James Brady, BSME, MBA – He is the owner of Focus on Success, an executive coaching and consulting company.  Jim is a certified Executive and Life Coach.  Since 1985, he has assisted owners of “non-giant” businesses with achieving their destinies of profit and growth.

Sandy Kosik, RN - She is the retired Chief of the Office of Substance Abuse Services for Oakland County.
